On- Leash Training Programs

The following programs are designed to teach owners and their dogs according to their individual levels.  The success of these programs relies heavily on the owner and their willingness to work at home with their dogs by changing their daily patterns and behaviors as instructed by the trainer. A properly sized training collar and a standard leather leash are included with the program.

Please Email us to ask additional questions book your program/evaluation by reaching us at FSK9info@gmail.com

Thank you for choosing FSk9.  The following information is a breakdown of what the On-Leash Programs offer:

 STEP ONE: In-person Evaluation $250.00

This evaluation is one-hour in length and gives the dog owner time to discuss everything that has been going on with their dog, including background, breed, medical issues from the past, and any behavior issues. You will bring your dog(s) to the evaluation on Fulton Ranch and discuss a private lesson program that fits your specific needs according to your goals, and issues with your pup. Please keep in mind, we do not accept any human aggression cases any longer here at FSK9, but will help you with human/dog reactivity with our behavior modification program. This evaluation also gives us time to complete a functional behavior assessment if you are interested in the behavior mod private lesson program, and also assess your dogs preferences with rewards. During this evaluation we will also assess the temperament of your dog, and your dog parenting/ownership dynamic. We recommend if possible for all family members who interact with the dog to show up to the evaluation and to bring other pack members if possible. After the initial evaluation we can get you scheduled in for a private lesson program.

Individual/Private Lesson             $200.00

The Individual Lesson is designed for the owner and dog who need advice on one or two issues. This lesson is not intended to teach your dog obedience commands, and does not include a leash & collar. The individual lesson is one hour long. After an evaluation, I may recommend individual lessons or you can request them.

Behavior Modification Program                      $4200.00

This is an on-leash program designed to assist owners and their dogs with socialization and behavior modification.  Some areas to consider for this program would be: People or animal related reactivity, socialization issues, fear, and hyperactivity.

This on-leash program is designed to establish a direct line of communication between the owner and the dog before beginning any modification to behaviors.

This program consists of 12 Private Lessons, 1 lesson per week, 1 hour for each lesson.

·      During this program your dog will learn the following commands: Heel with Automatic-SIT, SIT and DOWN at your side, SIT and DOWN in motion, SIT and DOWN from anywhere, STAY, COME, and PLACE. The PLACE command allows your dog limited freedom while maintaining self-control in a designated area (normally on a place mat).  The PLACE command is mobile, so your dog can perform it anywhere you go, such as restaurants, or a friends’ house.

Your dog will also participate in confidence and bond building exercises, and socialization/handling techniques to work through other behavior issues.  Upon completion of this program your dog will be able to walk calmly by your side through distractions without pulling on the leash, and sit/lie down in a stay patiently.

During the program you will be instructed through proper leash handling techniques and how to continue progressing through training with your dog after training is completed. You and your dog will also participate in socialization and behavior modification exercises together.  During these exercises there is heavy emphasis on increasing distractions, diversifying your dogs commands, and giving you advice on how to deal with other unwanted behaviors.

If additional days are needed to achieve success with your dog, each lesson after is $300 per lesson, and you can ask the trainer for additional days.  Every dog is unique and should be treated as individuals, and the trainer understands this.

Upon completion of this program, you and your dog may be eligible to attend group classes.

A properly sized training collar, leash, and place mat are included with the program cost.

An e-collar may be a recommendation for dogs going through this program, please ask for additional details.

PRIVATE LESSON TRAINING METHODS

Our training methods are ‘Bond Based’. Meaning everything is focused around developing the bond between you & your dog. We will assess the function of your dog’s behaviors to figure out why they’ve been maintained, and then use Operant Conditioning methods to discontinue or continue wanted or unwanted behaviors. We do not apply band aids here at Fulton Strong Canine Behavior Services, we are going to assess, and shape or extinguish behaviors that you are needing to target. Our trainer is committed to providing you with lasting behavior change.

We utilize healthy and humane forms of communication to enhance the learning process with the dog to either continue a behavior or to discontinue an unwanted behavior. OUR ultimate goal is to reach a direct line of communication with your dog. YOUR ultimate goal with your dog is to build a solid foundation by developing your bond, communicate trust, and have the ideal harmonious relationship.

You cannot outsource this bond, we are here to jumpstart your obedience & behavior. It is up to you to put in the work & time with your dog, and to become the leader your dog expects you to be. We are here to help you bridge the gap in communication and to coach you through the process of developing a solid bond with your pup.

Below is a list of the training tools that I use in my programs

We use Tugs, Balls on Strings, Food, Treats, Prey lines, Balls, Wedges, and many other fun items for rewards! Here are some of the other tools:

5 foot Leather Leash:  The leather leash is used to give you the best possible handling experience when working with your dog.  It is durable and will last a very long time. The thickness of each leash is variable according to the size of your dogs breed. A toy dog will use a thinner leash, whereas a large working breed dog will use a thicker leash.

Herm Sprenger Prong Collar: The prong collar may catch your eye and look like a medieval torture device, but if used correctly it will apply multiple pressures around the dogs neck to give feedback. It is NOT used to pull the dog, for 'pulling' on the leash, or to cause injury to the dog in any way.  This collar can work wonders for dogs who are large and powerful that have a strong resistance to skin sensitivity.  Prong collars are also used to give you 'Automatic steering' with your dog! Chain Training collars can be confusing for some owners because they have to refresh the collar or find a level of effectiveness, but by using a prong collar this turns your dog into an automatic instead of a manual stick shifter (in car terms).  A prong collar can be easier for the owner to understand and give you the upper hand by being able to give your dog effective feedback each time!

Remote/E-collar: I highly recommend transitioning to the use of an E-collar during one of the programs! I cannot speak more highly about using an E-collar. If the prong collar is automatic steering for your dog, consider the E-collar the (insert your favorite 'top of the line' automotive here) of training tools!  The remote, and the collar are both re-chargeable devices (no removable batteries that are a hassle to buy) and are both waterproof, so you can use them in the pool, at the beach, or in the rain! The collar delivers a 'pulse' to the dog, similar to a tens unit for a persons back.  Contrary to popular belief it DOES NOT send an electric shock to your dog.  I have tried all of the models of collars on the palm of my hand, and my thighs to the highest setting they offer. The 'Dogtra' models are what I use in my programs because they gradually increase in intensity by 1 digit increments, so there isn't a 'grey area' for your dog. 'Dogtra' also features a 'vibrate' feature which feels like a cell phone vibrate which can be used for deaf dogs, and can be used to call your dog back to you from far distances (they can tell the difference between the vibrate and a stimulation and what they both mean).  Some collars can go up to a 2 mile range, so they are great to use during/after an off-leash program. The remote collars are wonderful for people who are interested in delivering 'silent' feedback in public areas (without use of collar and leash), or for people who are wanting to control their dogs from the comfort of their couch! The goal with using the E-collar is to have the dog jumping for joy at the sight of it because they are so happy to put it on! Your dog will look forward to seeing the E-collar and enjoying the time you spend with him/her because it can give you peace of mind. Please let me know if you are interested in the remote collar training, and I will be more than happy to assist you with this transition!
